2e/Twice-exceptional
refers to gifted children who live with a challenge, difference or disability. These children are considered exceptional both because of their giftedness (e.g., intellectual, creative, perceptual, motor etc.) and because of their special needs (e.g., specific learning disability, neurodevelopmental disability etc.)...
The KLU way
Kids Like Us Australia Limited (KLU) is the only organisation in Australia to offer a comprehensive support structure and a sense of belonging for twice-exceptional students through the provision of learning and emotional support, advocacy and peer-to-peer support.
KLU Community
Kids Like Us was created by the people we support for the people we support, and we always keep that in mind! We run plenty of events and projects to educate and involve – follow the links to find out more!
KLU Wellbeing
Kids Like Us can provide counselling, therapeutic intervention, wellbeing programs and peer- and mentor-led programs. This comes in many different forms at Kids Like Us depending on the need of the young people we’re working with.
KLU Educational System
Kids Like Us offers a range of academic supports to suit the needs of our students. Our Education Team are a mix of VIT registered teachers, specialist academics and tutors, who provide supports from tuition, specific learning support to academic extension. We also provide support for classroom teachers and for creating ILSPs. Professional Development is offered through an ongoing series of evening and daytime courses covering topics related to student learning and well being. Please get in touch if you would like to learn more about our tailored in school professional development programs.
The role of the Kids Like Us Bursary Fund is to further Kids Like Us’ (KLU) ongoing commitment to twice-exceptional students by providing opportunities for less privileged students to obtain care and support and to assist in achieving their goals.
Kids Like Us actively raises funds from the community to be able to provide bursary support to families. We encourage all applicants, friends of Kids Like Us and others, to invite their friends and family to support Kids Like Us fundraising events to ensure there are funds available for other families in need...
